Book reading by Romesh Gunesekera
Saturday 12th June, 6.00pm (doors open 5.30pm)
FREE EVENT
The Noble Sage Art Gallery is hosting another exciting Asian Literary Evening. This time we have invited Romesh Gunesekera, he will be reading a short story from a recent collection and an extract from one of his novels. There will be a Q&A session and he will be signing books, including a Limited Edition book of stories and drawings: The Spice Collector.
Romesh Gunesekera's first novel Reef was shortlisted for the 1994 Booker Prize. He is also the author of The Sandglass, (BBC Asia Award) and Heaven's Edge which like his collection of stories, Monkfish Moon, was a New York Times Notable Book of the Year. His most recent novel The Match, is a funny, fresh and heart-warming story of adolescent desire and unsettled love. It was described by the Spectator as 'effortlessly accomplished' and the Iris Times as a book that 'shows why fiction is written-and read'. In 2004 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and in 2005 received the Sri Lankan Ranjana National Honour. He is currently Writer in Residence at Somerset House.
